Who doesn't love the wind in their hair as they cruise down a scenic bike path?! With the Tweetsie trail less than a mile from downtown Johnson City (and all the other awesome shopping, eating, and drinking downtown has to offer), and the one of a kind Creeper Trail in our backyard, even the most fun demanding greenbelt enthusiast will find the perfect ride here.

Tweetsie Trail - Johnson City, TN
Less than a mile from downtown Johnson City, the Tweetsie Trail is a rails-to-trails project traversing former ET&WNC railroad right-of-way between Johnson City and Elizabethton. Because of the unique sound of the locomotive whistle, the railroad and its trains became unofficially yet affectionately known as the “tweetsie.” The trail provides opportunities for walking, hiking, running, biking, etc. on a relatively flat grade in a beautiful, natural setting. The 10-mile trail is the longest rails-to-trails project in Tennessee!

Creeper Trail - Damascus, VA
The Va Creeper Trail stretches 34 miles from Abingdon, Virginia down thru the lovely town of Damascus, Va (known as the Heart of the Va Creeper) along the Whitetop Laurel River and up to its highest point Whitetop Station near the NC State Line at Whitetop, Virginia. The Va Creeper Trail is open year round to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. A vast majority of riders choose to book a shuttle in downtown Damascus and ride, nearly completely downhill, the 19 mile section between White Top and Damascus.

Erwin Linear Trail - Erwin, TN
The Erwin Linear Trail runs parallel to Interstate 26, along the North Indian Creek and Nolichucky waterways in the town. The greenway was designed by Tysinger, Hampton & Partners to help protect and enhance the environment and provide recreation to the community.
The Linear Trail includes wooded areas, natural ponds, wetlands and mountain views. Trails wander around and through the ponds for recreation and fishing. It also provides instructional wetlands areas for local shcool programs. Throughout the year on the Linear Trail you can find hikers, dog walkers, bicyclers, joggers, adults, children and families from the entire region.
In recent years, the Erwin Kiwanis Club has built an age-appropriate and special needs play and learning park along the trail. Other amenities on the Linear Trail including night lighting, restrooms, benches and docks for fishing – all in a family-friendly area.

Kingsport Greenbelt - Kingsport, TN
The Kingsport Greenbelt is a scenic fitness trail that stretches across Kingsport. A project developed and maintained by Kingsport Parks and Recreation, this historic and beautiful scenic trail serves the citizens of Kingsport. With access points all across the city of Kingsport, this paved and peaceful trail is 8 miles long and is a favorite destination for walkers, runners, bicycles and peaceful moments.

Alcoa Greenway - Maryville, TN
The 9-mile Maryville-Alcoa Greenway connects Springbrook Park in Alcoa with the Bicentennial Greenbelt and Sandy Springs Park in Maryville. The greenway starts near the swimming pool in Alcoa's Springbrook Park, passes the schools, crosses Springbrook Road near Edison Road, then follows Pistol Creek to Maryville.

Boone Greenway - Boone, NC
Boone Greenway is a hidden gem in the town of Boone, and each step traveled takes to across different settings, with nature, history and culture all on display. The trail traverses the town, winding, curving and looping as it follows the course of the New River.

Cades Cove - Townsend, TN
For over 40 years, park managers implemented several vehicle-free opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians in Cades Cove. Cades Cove is a broad, verdant valley surrounded by mountains and is one of the most popular destinations in the Great Smokies. It offers some of the best opportunities for wildlife viewing in the park. Large numbers of white-tailed deer are frequently seen, and sightings of black bear, coyote, ground hog, turkey, raccoon, skunk, and other animals are also possible.
